Edith Knierim, 90 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23 at First Baptist Church in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to the donor’s choice. Edith was born December 1, 1928 in Jasper County, the daughter of Roy and Jocelyn (Cox) Richey. She married Leonard E. Knierim on October 27, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1980. Edith had retired from Fedders Corp. in Effingham and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Effingham.

Edith is survived by her sons, Leland (Kim) and Wesley (Deborah), both of Effingham; daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Newman of Altamont and Deanna (Garry) Sapp of Farina; daughter-in-law, Kathy Knierim of Effingham; sisters, Ruby (Raymond) Tate of Rockville, MD, Anne DeBroski of Garden Grove, CA; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, James and Dale; four brothers and grandson, Ryan Sapp.
