B.J. Carr, 62, of Hidalgo, IL passed away 10:21 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Per B.J.’s wishes, she was cremated. A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4pm Saturday, November 23 at the Parish Center in Greenup. Burial will be held at a later date. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family with arrangements.

B.J. was born on September 3, 1957, the daughter of William H. and Loretta (Pike) Houser. She married Dwayne “Chub” Carr on January 7, 1984.

B.J. is survived by her husband; son Bill Carr of Dieterich, IL; daughter Lacey (Chris) James of Greenup, IL; step son Steve Carr of Toledo, IL; step daughter Amy Gordon of Mattoon, IL; brothers William D. “Bill” Houser of Hidalgo, IL, Bart Houser of Newton, IL and Jack Houser of Rose Hill, IL; sister Diane Nees of Greenup, IL; and special granddog Hellboy.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

B.J. was a lifetime member of the Greenup VFW Auxiliary. B.J. enjoyed the outdoors and working in her garden. She was a jack of all trades. She could shoot a rifle, swing a hammer and out cook Martha Stewart. B.J. was a true “Parrothead” and had been to over 30 Jimmy Buffett concerts. She loved the beach and often vacationed in Mexico with her family. B.J. never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation or argue about politics with anyone. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
