Mildred L. Carter-Black, 89, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham, IL. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL is assisting the family.

Mildred was born on September 7, 1930, in Fancher, IL, the daughter of Mont and Laura (Henderson) Morrison. She was a nurses’ aide and physical therapist assistant at Shelby Memorial Hospital and Shelbyville Manor. Mildred was a wonderful homemaker who cherished the years raising her sons.

Surviving are two sons: Carroll (Judy) Carter of Jewett, IL and Donald (Carmen) Carter of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Keri Helton, Nick Carter, Jason Carter, Sarah (Eric) Weinant, Jessie (Steve) Finney, Tony (Becky) Carter and Kenneth Carter and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Gene Carter and Charles Black; companion, Everett Matheny; two sons, Jack (Judy) Carter and Joseph (Pam) Carter; three brothers: Lester, Cecil and Billy; one sister, Frances and one great-granddaughter, Payton Jean.
