Lonnie Dale Lankford, 45, of Effingham, IL, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019.

Lonnie was born on December 6, 1973, at St. Anthony Hospital to Noah A. “Lonnie” and Carol (Shelley) Lankford of Effingham, IL.

He was a carefree and outspoken person who followed in his father’s footsteps and became a fantastic cook. He started his cooking career alongside his father at 76 Truck Stop. His current employer was the Gopher’s Grill. At one point in time, you ate his food. He took great pride in feeding people. Family was a big part of his life. He had a big heart and a lot of love.

Lonnie is survived by 5 sons, Alex Lankford and Brendan Lankford both of Eau Claire, WI, Kody Lankford and Daniel Lankford both of Effingham, and Zayden Lankford of Mason, IL; mother, Carol Lankford of Dieterich, IL; siblings, Leon Lankford of Effingham, Doug Lankford of Lehigh Acres, FL, John (Laura) Lankford of Effingham, Sandy Stonum (special friend, Vic Arnold) of Effingham, Becky Lankford of Dieterich, IL, and Susan (Brock) Goeckner of Effingham. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Owen and Ena Lankford, and James and Valley Shelley; and nephew, John Michael Ward.
