Evelyn R. Johnston (83) of Shelbyville

Evelyn R. Johnston, 83, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, August 25, 2019 in Shelbyville Manor, following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Evelyn was born on April 24, 1936, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Silvah Belle (Renner) Kircher. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1954. Evelyn began working as a keypunch operator for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville, IL. She later worked as a secretary for the Shelby County Farm Bureau, retiring in 1998. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, IL and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and attending the quilting bees with her relatives and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Starla D. Stillwell and husband Randy of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Lela Kircher of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Shastine L. Mosley of St. Louis, MO and William G. Smith of Dover, TN; great grandchildren, Kylie and Kinsley Smith both of Dover, TN; and special friend, Sara E. Stillwell of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Kircher; mother, Sylvah Kimlel (Paul); and brothers, Herman Kircher in his youth, Alvah Kircher, and Carl Kircher.
