Mildred M. Black, 91, of Toledo, Illinois passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday,  August 14, 2019 at Cumberland Rehab & Health Care Center in Greenup.

Graveside services will be held at 6pm Thursday, August 29 at the Toledo Cemetery. A meal will be held immediately following at the Toledo Christian Church. Please take a covered dish. The Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Memorials can be made to the Cumberland Rehab Auxiliary fund. Online condolences may be made by clicking here.

Mildred was born October 20, 1927 in Mattoon to William and Lenora (Hornbeck) Bowman. She married Charles F. Black Jr. January 30, 1947 and he preceded her in death. Mildred was a homemaker and co-owner of Black’s Sawmill. She also had Black’s Antique store in Toledo for many years. She was a hardworking woman, who always spoke her mind. She cared about the community she lived in and helped promote it in any way she could. She enjoyed rummage sales, fishing, and animals.

Surviving are her children, Jerry (Michelle) Black, Mike (Penny) Black, Randy (Madeline) Black, Sharon (Jim) Newell and Glenn Black; two daughters in-law, Linda Black and Debbie Black; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, David Black and Pat Black and one great-grandchild; brothers, Glen, Frank, Walter, Richard, John and Jim Bowman; sisters, Dorothy and Alice.
