Betty Lou Taber, 82, of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 11:01 AM Sunday July 7, 2019, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center of Mattoon, Illinois.

She was born May 14, 1937, in Coles County, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis Elmer and Mildred Hazel (Snapp) Woodard. She married Thomas F. Taber in June of 1959 in Bethany, Illinois. Mr Taber passed away April 11, 1996. Betty worked in quality control at General Electric of Mattoon for 27 years; she also was a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Zion Hill Methodist Church, where she was active in the Relay For Life. Betty was also a member of the Mattoon Moose Club, and the Neoga American Legion Auxiliary. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends and showing off her 1969 Pontiac GTO muscle car.

She leaves her daughter, Karen Craig of Neoga, Illinois; step daughter Debra Spinner of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; special companion, Jesse Sanderson of Neoga, Illinois; brothers, Jerry Woodard (Donna) of Mowequa, Illinois and Donald Woodard (Judy) of Gays, Illinois; sister, Wilma June Hardin of Mattoon, Illinois; grandchildren, Timothy Gebhardt (Kristy) of Diona, Illinois and Christopher Gebhardt (Tracy) of Neoga, Illinois; step-grandson, Ryan Gessell (Brandi) of Mechanicsburg, Illinois; four great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren and several neices and nephews; long time best friend, Martha Crim.

She was preceded in death by, her parents; Husband Thomas; brother, Carlos Duane Woodard; sisters, Dorothy Stuttle and Joan Armstrong.

Memorials are suggested to Relay For Life or ASPCA.

A Celebration of Betty's life will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 13 in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with Pastor Gene Creek of Neoga, Illinois and Pastor Phillip Glick of Champaign, Illinois officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery in Paradise Township, Coles County, Illinois.
