Cheryl Hamilton (88) of Effingham

Cheryl Hamilton, 88, of Effingham, IL, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Strong Tower Church, 1901 S. 4th St, Lincolnland Building Suite 221, Effingham, IL 62401. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here. 

Cheryl was born on December 2, 1930 the daughter of Ivan and Lela (Redfern) Evans. She was a graduate of Beecher City High School. Cheryl was united in marriage to Harold C. Hamilton in 1950 and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2007.

Cheryl retired as Postmaster for the Shumway Post Office. She loved her Lord, family, and friends, and always had a smile for everyone. Cheryl also had a love of shopping. Special thanks for everyone’s prayers and also to the Villas of Hollybrook and Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Cheryl is survived by her sons, Mark (Evelyn) Hamilton of Alabama and Trent (Marilyn) Hamilton of Indiana; daughter, Dawn (Gary) Scoggins of Illinois; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hamilton of Indiana; grandchildren, Joshua (Nancy) Hamilton, Jesse (Beth) Hamilton, Garrett Hamilton, Aaron (Keri) Hamilton, Kyle Hamilton, Kenneth Hamilton, Klent (Tracey) Scoggins, and Evan Scoggins; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and son, Darin Hamilton.
