Jennifer A. Reiss, 56, passed away Friday evening, May 10, 2019 at her home in Effingham.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to E.A.R.S. (Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary) or to Crossroads Cancer Center. 

Jennifer was born October 9, 1962 in Urbana, the daughter of James and Barbara (Consoer) Hann. She married Mark H. Reiss on July 7, 1990. Jennifer was a nurse at Willowbrook in Effingham, as well as worked in the pharmacy at Martin IGA. She was a member of St. Anthony Church in Effingham.  Above all Jennifer was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandma. She cherished and embraced her time spent with her husband, four boys, and granddaughter. Jennifer had a vivacious personality and would always put others before herself. She especially enjoyed her Friday afternoon board meetings with friends. She loved the outdoors whether it be mowing her lawn, cruising around in her jeep with friends, hiking The Snake Road in Shawnee Forest, camping in the Shawnee with her friends from Harrisburg, gardening, or going to the ballpark to watch the Cubs beat the Cardinals; you could always find her outside with a smile on her face. Jennifer also had a passion for animals, she loved to feed the birds, squirrels, and deer in her backyard along with taking care of her cats inside.

Surviving are her husband, Mark of Effingham; sons, Bryce of Effingham, Blaine of Springfield, Zach and Zaine, both of Effingham; granddaughter, Braylee; father, James (Betty) Hann of Cape Cod, MA; brothers, Richard A. (Michelle) Hann of St. Augustine, FL and James A. “Tony” (Ellen) Hann of Effingham; sister, Patty (Jeff) Lee of Olney.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara.
