Marian Faye (Hillard) Thompson of Trilla enjoyed a long awaited reunion with her husband, Charles V. (Tommy) Thompson on Sunday, May 4, 2019. Also celebrating her arrival were her parents, Beulah and Charles Hillard, her brothers Jack and Larry, her best friends and sister-in- laws Doris Pantle and Dora Vrzina and the many friends she made in her 94 years here with us.

Marian was born December 13, 1924 in Mattoon. Her family moved to Paris when she was a junior in high school and she met "Tommy." He decided right then and there he was going to marry her and made good on that promise June 9, 1946. During their 41 years of marriage they had three children, Kathy (Ron) Black of Toledo, Larry (Jenny) Thompson of Trilla and Dwight Thompson of Trilla with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren that loved her dearly. She also has a four-legged, furry companion named Mikey that misses her already.

Marian was always ready for company with homemade cinnamon rolls and oatmeal cookies. She enjoyed spending hours sewing, could not pass a garage sale without seeing what they were "giving away" and had whatever you may need in her basement. She worked for GE and for the government during WWII but mostly was a homemaker with many talents. She made wedding cakes and dresses, upholstered furniture, and lived farm life to its fullest, gardening, raising cattle and chickens and selling eggs. She enjoyed traveling around the country with Tommy in their camper and square dancing. She lived every minute of her life her way and we couldn't be more proud. Although our hearts are heavy, we are comforted in the fact that she is free and with those she missed every day.

Celebration of her life will be at Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo on Thursday, May 9 with visitation from 5-7pm. Services will be Friday at the funeral chapel at 10am with graveside services at Janesville cemetery immediately following.

Memorials may be made to the Effingham County Humane Society.
