John M. Hibbard (69) of St. Elmo, formerly of Milledgeville

John M. Hibbard, 69, of St. Elmo, IL, formerly of Milledgeville, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
John was born on May 11, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri to John H. and Elnora N. (Williams) Hibbard. He was united in marriage to Martha Flynn on June 13, 1970 in Milledgeville, IL; she preceded him in death on July 27, 2013.
John was a veteran in the United States Army, serving four tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL, lastly working in the furnace department upon the Mill’s closure in 2001.
John is survived by his son, Darren Hibbard of Kansas; daughter, Kate (Jonathan) Janssen of Chadwick; granddaughters, Alexis Janssen and Addison Janssen; siblings, Judy (Ray) Hodges of Rockford, Jack (Janice) Hibbard of Rock Falls, Nancy (Nicholas) Rodriguez of Jacksonville, NC and Sherri McLaren of Rock Falls; brothers-in-law, Dale Druien and Mike Nerstheimer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha; 3 sisters, Brenda Druien, Barb Nerstheimer, and Freida Tompkins.
