John Salzman Blievernicht (87) of Teutopolis

John Salzman Blievernicht, 87, of Teutopolis died at 7:30am Friday, February 8, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, February 11 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Dieterich (rural Wheeler). Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Cemetery, with full military rites by the Dieterich American Legion Post #628. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Sunday at the church. There will also be visitation 1 hour before the service. In loving memory of John, memorials may be made to Lutheran Hour, Meals on Wheels or St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.
He was born June 2nd, 1931 at home to George & Martha (Salzman) Blievernicht and was Baptized June 21st, 1931, Confirmed March 25th, 1945 – Confirmation Verse: Proverbs 23:26. He was a lifelong member St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wheeler, IL.
John entered US Navy November 14th, 1951 during Korean War conflict. Stationed in San Diageo and served on the USS Collett Destroyer and was Honorably Discharged November 3rd, 1955.
John married to Irene (Wolf) Blievernicht on January 1st, 1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a lifelong farmer who loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
John is survived by: Wife Irene, daughter Regina (Bill) Baxter of Teutopolis, Illinois, 4 sons Michael (Kim) Blievernicht of Newton, Illinois; Dennis (Kathleen) Blievernicht of Teutopolis, Illinois; Dean (Sue) Blievernicht of Casey, Illinois; Steve (Elaine) Blievernicht of Teutopolis, Illinois; 13 Grandkids Doug (Melani) Baxter, David (Amanda) Baxter, Sharon (Eric) Schackmann, James Blievernicht, Ana (Michael) Meyer, Elise (Dane) Crosson, Bo Blievernicht, Trevor Borries, Austin Brian, Kyle Blievernicht, Noah Blievernicht, Evan Blievernicht, Elle Blievernicht, 8 great-grandchildren Riley Baxter, Carson Baxter, Layla Baxter, Collin Baxter, Grace Baxter, Addison Meyer, Kason Meyer, Emmy Meyer, sister Mary Bushur Indianapolis, Indiana.
Proceeded in death by Parents George & Martha (Salzman) Blievernicht, sister & brother-in-law Ruth & Karl Jesgarz and brother-in-law Raymond Bushur, 2 Grandchildren Daniel Baxter and Ryan Blievernicht, 2 great grandchildren, Ian Schackmann and Madison Schackmann.
