Ronald "Ronnie" Slane, 56, of Newton, Illinois passed away at 8:11 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be 1:30pm Sunday, May 20 at Crain Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Saturday. Burial in West Lawn Cemetery, Newton.
He was born September 16, 1955 in Olney, the son of LeRoy "Chub" and Sylva Louise (Foster) Slane. He married Deborah "Debbie" Yager on April 7, 1989. He owned his own body shop, was co-owner of S&S Amoco, co-owner of Slane's Auto Shop and was currently manager of Heartland Classics. Through the years, he was involved in car clubs, car shows, and was a past member of the Shriners. He currently was a member of the Newton Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Slane of Newton...children, Maggie Fuesting and husband Les of Ste. Marie, Angel Slane of Vincennes, Indiana, Alicia Slane of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Michael Slane of Effingham, and Ron Slane, Jr. of Newton...four grandchildren, Caleb Bradham, Jamayka Savage, Luther Fuesting and Anthony Fuesting...sisters, Linda Miller, Marsha Paul and husband Terry, Verna Griffith and husband Johnny, Vanessa Slane and Vellena Schmidt and husband Tony, all of Newton...and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
