Betty J. Poe, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Betty was born on January 25, 1933, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Bernice (Guthrie) Meyers. She was married to Cecil J. Poe for over sixty-eight years. Betty was a dedicated nurse’s aide at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for over twenty-five years. She and Cecil opened their home taking care of grandchildren and her friends’ children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a fabulous cook and was best known for her homemade noodles.
Betty is survived by her husband, Cecil Poe of Effingham; children, Debbie (Mike) Myers of Conway, AR, Don (Judy) Poe of Naples, FL, David (Carolyn) Poe of Effingham, Doug (Peggy) Poe of Effingham, and Daylene (Randy) Johnson of Effingham; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy (Jerry) Webb of Effingham and Lynn Meyers of Naples, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deanne Huey; brothers, Donald and William; sister, Mary Meyers; grandson, Brandon Poe; and grand-daughter-in-law, Penny Johnson.
