Andrew R. Krikie (45) of Springfield

Andrew R. Krikie (45) of Springfield, IL, passed away at 10:10 AM on December 27, 2018 at Decatur, IL. 

Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 11:OO AM on Thursday January 3, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Neoga with Pastor Mel Workman, Pastor Richard Coen, and Pastor Marcus Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:OO PM to 7:OO PM on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga and January 3, 2019 from 1O:OOAM until time of service at the church.

Andrew was born on March 14, 1973, in Mattoon, IL, and was raised in Neoga, IL, the son of Kenneth and Pamela (Hartke) Krikie. His mother, Pamela, passed away December 18, 1979, when Andrew was very young.

Survivors include his father, Kenneth Krikie, of Mattoon; his sister, Angela (Krikie) Allen, and her husband Marcus Allen of West Plains, MO; his brother, Mark Krikie of Neoga, IL; and his nephews Wyatt Krikie of Neoga, IL, and Sean Allen of West Plains, MO He was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Krikie; his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Raymond Krikie; and his maternal grandparents, Betty and Jim Hartke, all of Neoga, IL,

Andrew graduated from Neoga High School in 1991. He then graduated from Lincoln Christian College in 1995, and became a minister at Gays Christian Church and also at Smyser Christian Church for several years. He then moved to Springfield, IL, and worked at Horace Mann Insurance before taking a job with the Illinois Department of Revenue where he worked until April 8, 2018, after having been diagnosed with ALS in early 2017. He had become completely disabled by the time he passed away.

Andrew was a Dallas Cowboys fan and was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed activities with his family such as bowling, going to horse races, and to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He especially enjoyed Christmases with his family. For three years, Andrew also enjoyed trips to football games in the Dakotas with friends.

He was loved by his family and many friends. He is now in heaven, at peace, and not suffering any longer. Your family will remember you and always love you, son, and we will miss you very much forever!
