Stanley Winter (74) of Altamont

Stanley G. Winter of Altamont, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:10 PM with his family near at his home in rural Altamont, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday morning January 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Pentecostal Church, 1009 West Gallatin, Vandalia, Illinois with Brother Daniel L. McDonald
Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, Illinois. A second visitation will be held at First Pentecostal Church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am or the time of the funeral services at the church.
Military Burial Rites will be conducted at the Arborcrest cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Stanley George Winter was born April 1, 1938 in rural Mound Township, Effingham County near Altamont, almost on the identical property where he was born. He was the first son of five siblings born to George and Jennie Siebert-Winter. Stanley was life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed his faith. He was educated at the Immanuel Lutheran School, and graduated from Altamont High School with the class of 1956. He attended one year of college and the enlisted in the U. S. Army. Stanley married Sharon Diane Teter on April 1, 1962, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together, Stanley and Sharon were blessed with two children: Shawn and Shelli. When the children were growing up Stanley spent a great deal of time working in the rock quarry business and owning in partnership S & V Stone Quarry in Mode, Illinois before retiring in 1991. He proudly served his county for 6 years as a reserve veteran of the United States Army during Viet Nam conflict. Stanley was an active member of the Altamont community.
