June Kay, age 89, formerly of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 9:30 AM - Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services celebrating the life of June will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, November 17 at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois, with Dale Hood officiating. Burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In loving memory of Thelma June, donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania, 16053. June Kay was born on July 19, 1929 in La Hogue, Illinois, the daughter of John and Letha (Workman) Fillinger, and grew up in Newton, Illinois. She married Claude Kay on August 14, 1948, in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1983. June was an active member of the Latona Church of Christ and enjoyed visiting at the Newton Senior Center in Newton, Illinois.
June is survived by: 3 Children- Shirley (Larry) Grossman of Prospect, Pennsylvania; Janet (David) Jewell of Plantation, Florida, and John Kay (Lois Blum) of Palm Harbor, Florida; 3 Grandchildren- Meredith (Michael) Arnold of Harrisville, Pennsylvania; Heather( Paul) Horton of Chicora, Pennsylvania, and Lee(Angela) Jewell of Parker, Colorado, who is serving in the United States Army; 5 Great-grandchildren- Bryan (Kim) Smith of Alaska, US Air Force; Darek (Sarah) Horton of Colorado, US Air Force; Kaytlen ( Jon) White of Norfolk, Virginia, US Navy; Ben Jewell and Lincoln Jewell both of Parker, Colorado; 3 Great-Great granddaughters - Kenlee, Haven and Estella Smith all of Alaska; Sister- Irene Reynolds of Phoenix, Arizona, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Scott Kay who passed away October 24, 2018, just 2 1/2 weeks before his Mom, 2 Brothers, Lindell Fillinger and Loren Fillinger, and her Father and Mother-in-law Claude and Ora Kay.
