Linda Helen Smith (76) of Greenup

Linda Helen Smith, 76, of Greenup, IL passed away at 6:05 AM Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana in Indianapolis.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday September 8 at the First Presbyterian Church 209 E Illinois St. in Greenup, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Constant Cemetery in Buffalo Hart, IL. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.

Linda was born on February 6, 1942 in Springfield, IL to Paul & Marguerite (Phillips) Theobald. She graduated from Tri-City High School in Buffalo, IL. She married Paul A. Smith in Riverton, IL on January 20, 1962.

Surviving is her husband of 56 years; Daughter Lisa Dawn Carlen (special friend Cara Dillier) of Greenup; Son Christopher Paul (Susan) Smith of Greenup; Brothers Tom (Lynn) Theobald and Dale (Linda) Theobald both of Indianapolis. Linda was a loving Grammy to Chelsea (Cody) Dolly, Curtis (Jodi) Carlen, Cole (Breanna) Carlen, Madeleine (Trey) Stone, Maggie Smith, Jennifer (John) Nay and Lindsay (Evan) Edwards; 10 Great Grandchildren Veronica and Ivan Dolly, Riley and Faith Carlen, Kaisen Carlen, Parker Stone, Larkin and Calvin Nay and Hudson and Tenley Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Linda was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenup. She played the organ at the church for 35 years and at the Barkley and Bishop Funeral Chapels. She enjoyed camping and boating, cooking, bowling, sewing, playing Joker and crafting. Linda was a loving wife, mom and grammy. She and Paul enjoyed traveling to Florida every winter.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude for all the thoughts, prayers and kindness during the past difficult weeks.
