Kenneth E. Long, 93, of Effingham, IL, entered his heavenly home on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at the First Church of God in Effingham with Pastor Jared Chesnut officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois, Crossroads Cancer Center, or the First Church of God.

Kenneth was born on April 15, 1925, in Mason, IL, the son of Percy and Ollie (Depoister) Long. He was united in marriage to Norma J. Chesnut on July 30, 1945 in the home of their pastor in Mason, IL. Kenneth was a Christian all of his life and taught us how to follow His path. He was employed for over 40 years at Norge/Fedders. He was loved by his family and was a friend to all.

Kenneth is survived by his precious wife, Norma J. Long of Effingham; children, Terry (Judy, deceased) Long, Joyce (Michael) Bateman, and Jerry Long all of Effingham; grandchildren, Cristi White, Kim Rogers, Tricia (Andy) Wendt, Heather Case, Ben (Cara) Bateman, and Kaylee Long; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Judy; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
