Nancy J. Hissong (65) of St. Elmo

Nancy J. Hissong, 65, of St. Elmo, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13 at New Horizons Church, St. Elmo with PeeWee Denton officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery, rural Beecher City. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 on Monday evening at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice or Crossroads Cancer Center.

Nancy was born on Sunday, April 6, 1952 in Effingham to Junior and Francis Koester McWhorter. She married Gilbert R. Hissong on April 21, 1996 and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2012. She had worked at St. Elmo Food Market, Stella D’Oro, Altamont Dollar General and most recently as manager of the St. Elmo Dollar General. She was a member of the Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 Auxiliary.
Nancy is survived by sons, Michael (Kathy) Crockett, Farina; Andrew (Jennifer) Farkas, Mokena; Ray (Gloria) Hissong, Edgewood; Micheal (Becky) Hissong, Brownstown; daughters, Crystal (Michael) Veach, Effingham; Robin (Jason) Verdeyen, St. Elmo. Brothers, John (Jody) McWhorter, St. Elmo; Jeff (Donna) McWhorter and Tom McWhorter, Strasburg; sister, Ann (Kenny) Harris, Effingham and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Bobby Joe Crockett and sister Pat McGregor.
