Shirley Jean Spencer, 79, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
According to Shirley’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Private services will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Memorials may be directed for funeral expenses and received at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. 4th Street, Effingham, IL 62401.

Shirley was born on July 23, 1938, in Effingham, IL. She was a loving person with a heart of gold. She always put an emphasis on family and loved her grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed bingo, crocheting, coloring artwork, and the different activities at Lakeland. She will be dearly missed.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Tina Spencer and Rebecca (Russel) Richey; special friend, Tari Crooker; grandchildren, Natalie Kay (Ryan) Walsh, Michael Best, and Tiffany Best; and great-grandchildren, Roger, Lucas, Adian, and Dean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Virginia Spencer.
