Ruth Inez Geltz age 82 of Willow Hill passed away at 8:25 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.
 
Funeral services celebrating Ruth’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.  Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton.

Ruth was born on December 23, 1934 in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Harbin Dale and Clara Ava (Baker) Murray.  She married Robert Yost in 1952.  She later married Harold “Hezzie” Geltz on August 11, 1962.  He preceded her in death on June 1, 2011.

While living in Albion, Michigan, Ruth worked at Corning Glass from 1961 until 1968.  She later became the head bartender at the Holiday Inn until July of 1971.  She and Harold relocated to Waters Michigan in 1970, where they opened Northern Tank Truck Service.  They provided oil field trucking until their retirement in 1998.  Following their retirement, Ruth and Harold returned to Willow Hill.

Ruth and Harold enjoyed traveling in their motor home, each year taking a trip to Las Vegas and the West with either Ruth’s sister and husband Oletha and Riley Chapman or Harold’s sister and husband Evelyn and Maynard Kocher.  Ruth enjoyed crafting and learning about computers.  She was a self-taught computer tech, participating in an online help site through Pal Talk to assist others with their computer.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoying games, conversation, and being together.  She will be dearly missed by her family and her many computer friends around the world.

Ruth will be loved and remembered by her son Ray Geltz of Tucson, AZ; daughters Mary Geltz Stanham of Parma, MI and Deborah Yost of Willow Hill; five grandchildren Sarah Stanham of Parma MI, Michael Yost of Indianapolis, IN, Leeann Yost of Neoga, IL; Robert Yost of Willow Hill and Ethan Yost of Willow Hill; great-grandchild Jayden Ferrill of Neoga; and her special dogs Joey and Julie.

Her parents, husband Harold, sons Gary Lee Yost, Dennis Yost, and Larry Lee Geltz and sisters and brothers-in-law Oletha and Riley Chapman and Lois and Roy Junior Tate preceded her in death.

Memorial gifts in honor of Ruth may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund.
