Wayne Orrell, 85, of Hidalgo, IL went to be with the Lord at 1:40 am Friday, November 3, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday November 9 at the Plainfield Church in Rose Hill with Rick Britton officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery, Rose Hill with graveside Military Rites. Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Sarah Bush Cancer Center or the Plainfield Church.

Wayne was born on March 23, 1932 in Casey, IL to Leo and Maude (Rhoads) Orrell. He married the love of his life Hazel Minnie McComas on April 4, 1953. They shared 62 wonderful years together, she preceded him on October 9, 2015.

Surviving are his daughters Susan (Chuck) Whalen of Hidalgo, IL and Carol Hamm of Toledo; grandchildren Jamie (Chris) Radake of Herrin, IL, April (Jon) Burkhardt of Mattoon, Charlie (Erica) Whalen, Buck Whalen and Kristy (Russell) Herring all of St. Cloud, FL; great grandchildren Sophia Burkhardt, Keatin, Denton, Whalen and Hadden Herring, Wyatt and Amanda Whalen; Brother Ben Orrell of Casey, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Charles and Ed.

Wayne worked for the Decatur Park District and was Golf Course Superintendent for 32 years. He served his county in the United States Army in Korea. He was a member of the Central Illinois Golf course Superintendent Association and the G.C.S.A.A.
