Derek Robert Malone (35) of Trilla

Derek Robert Malone, 35 of Trilla, Illinois, passed away at 12:15 P.M. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, in St. Francis Medical Center of Peoria, Illinois.

As per Derek's wishes, his body will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, October 22 in the Long Point Cemetery near Neoga, Illinois, with the Rev. Richard Coen, officiating. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery near Neoga, IL. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to Rosemary Sowers, P.O. Box 1561, Mattoon, IL 61938, for the children's education.

Derek was born November 8, 1981, in Coles County, Illinois the son of Robert and Rose Mary "Rose" (Seeley) Malone. He was a Operating Engineer for Stark Excavation Company of Champaign, Illinois. Derek was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, local 841 B. He enjoyed his motorcycle trips with Jessica and spending time with his five children.

Derek leaves his Mother, Rosemary "Rose" Sowers (Scott) of Trilla, IL; five children, Rob, Ava, Henry, Sam and Franklin Malone all of Toledo, IL; a loving girlfriend, Jessica Olsen of Chenoa, IL; one sister, Angel  Booher of Iuka, IL; two brothers, Scott Sowers, Jr. (Josie) of IN and Roger Sowers ; two nephews, Jacob Guy and Alex Booher, both of Iuka, IL; five aunts and uncles, Roy and Paula Malone, Doug and Connie Malone, all of Neoga, IL and Jim Malone.

Derek was preceded in death by his father, Robert Malone and one brother, Robbie Matthew Malone.
