Joanne “Jody” Darling, 74, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Life’s Journey, Pana, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. John Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Shelbyville Garden Club.

Jody was born on July 8, 1943 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Andrew “Tony” and Margaret (Burns) Pusch. She grew up in Peoria, where she attended Kingman Grade School and graduated from Woodruff High School in the Class of 1961. Jody continued her education at Western Illinois University, graduating in 1965. She worked as a medical technician at Decatur Memorial Hospital and then as the manager of the laboratory at Shelby Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Jody was a member of Cornerstone Community Fellowship in Shelbyville, IL and a former member of the Cowden United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Shelbyville Garden Club and enjoyed gardening, growing roses and traveling.

She is survived by her daughter, Erika Darling of Cancun, Mexico; sister, Marjorie Meixner (Ed) of Grayslake, IL; nieces, Julie and Emily; two great nieces; and one great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
