Kim "Kimmy" Kobler (66) of Lake Sara

Kim "Kimmy" Kobler, 66, of Lake Sara passed away unexpectantly, but peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, surrounded by her family and friends.
Family and friends are asked to celebrate her love of life and will be welcomed from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8 at the Lake Sara Pavilion at the Dam with special words to be shared at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Gift to Ride Scholarship c/o Beecher City Bank, Community Support Systems, Teutopolis, or the Effingham County Humane Society. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kimbra J. Kobler was born on Saturday, December 30, 1950 in Herrin, IL to William and Mildred (Brandon) Haub. She married her best friend and the love of her life, Carl L. Kobler on November 13, 1970 in Marion and they celebrated over 46 years of marriage. She had worked as an insurance agent with Country Companies in Effingham. While not belonging to a church, she was of the Christian faith. She was involved with the Effingham Art Guild and Lake Sara Good Neighbors, but was passionate about her “Horsey Girls”, “The Lizards, “The Wednesday Night Flotilla", and the“Waterbaby’s” and her beloved Pocahontas ‘Pokie’.
Many tears are being shed by those she leaves behind: her husband, Carl; son, Rhett Kobler and his wife Ashley of Effingham; grandson, Alex Mitchell and his wife Shannon of Lancaster, PA; foreign exchange daughter, Sanna Lehtonen of Finland; sister-in-law, Debbie (Kevin) Waldrop of Marion; nephews, Justin (Ashley), Bryan, and Trey (Kasey) Waldrop; sister-in-law, Emma Lou Garrison of Marion; nephew, Jared Garrison; niece Tatia (Mitch) Strang; great niece, Josie; great nephew Jesse; brother-in-law, Jerald (Susan) of Marion; niece, Janelle (Clayton) Litton, great nephew, Dallas; special Aunt, Lu Queen of Chino Valley, AZ, cousin-in-law, Dean ‘Mac’ (Susan) Keller and many cousins and special friends.
Kimmy was preceded in death by her parents, William Haub and Mildred (Brandon) Haub-Greenwood; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clarence and Jeraldine Kobler, brothers-in-law, James T. Garrison and Freddy Dale Kobler, father-in-law, Robert Greenwood and grandmother, Lola Brandon.
The family would like to thank all of their friends who have loved and lifted them up, especially during the last two years.
