James Walter “Jim” Overbeck, 64, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in his residence.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, no services will be held. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Education Fund for the Overbeck Children to continue his children’s education.

Jim was born on February 8, 1953 in Effingham, IL, the son of Robert and Eileen (Andes) Overbeck. He graduated from Effingham High School in the Class of 1971. Jim was a cutter operator for World Color Press and later Petty Printing Company both in Effingham, IL. He married Deborah L. Woodall on December 17, 1994. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and caring for his animals.

He is survived by his wife Deborah; son, Matthew Overbeck of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Amanda and Megan Overbeck both of Shelbyville, IL and Gina Hardwick of Dieterich, IL; brothers, Robert, Ron, Dan, and Bill Overbeck all of Effingham, IL and Don Overbeck of Tennessee; sister, Mary Klein of Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Mary Woodall of Shelbyville, IL; several cousins, including his best friend, Virgil Haarmann of Effingham, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Michael Overbeck.
