MIchael J. Knabe (58) of Effingham

Michael J. “Mike” Knabe, 58 of Effingham, passed away Wednesday evening, September 13, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 19 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, with Fr. Robert Spriggs officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross to provide relief for the victims of Hurricane Irma.

Mike was born March 25, 1959 in Effingham, the son of Albert and Mary (Mangiameli) Knabe. He was the co-owner of Al’s Tire Mart in Effingham and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham.

Mike is survived by his son, Justin (fiancé, Shelby) Knabe of Ocala, FL; daughter, Kaelee (Russell) Ross of Dunnellon, FL; mother, Mary Knabe of Effingham; two brothers, Tom (Jeanie) Knabe and Mark (Janet) Knabe, both of Effingham; sister, Lisa Knabe of St. Louis, MO; two nephews, Joe (Megan) Knabe and Ethan Knabe; niece, Jennifer (Blake) Weber; the one who kept him true to himself, Michelle Niebrugge of Teutopolis, and her children, Lance, Dylan, Devin and Colin.

Mike was preceded in death by his father; infant daughter, Shannon; two infant brothers, and his best friend, Jaime.
