Jean F. Fox, 89, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday evening September 11, 2017 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Greenville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Food Pantry or the Braille Center.

Jean was born on September 15, 1927, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Phillip Carl and Emma F. (Noll) Flamm. She was united in marriage to William S. Fox on October 29, 1949, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2012. Jean was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and participated with the Lydia Guild and Altar Guild. Jean also worked at St. John’s Braille Center. She had worked as a manager at Kirlin’s Hallmark for many years. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother as well as a great cook.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Carole (husband, John) Krost of St. Elmo, Cynthia Myers of Effingham, and Carla Fox of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Kendra (husband, Kyle Lewis) Myers of Toledo and Aaron (Kris) Myers of Altamont; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Dalton, and Ethan; step-great-grandchildren, Austin and Robert; great-great-grandson, Asher; and brother, Melvin (Virginia) Flamm of Smithboro, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mildred Atchison; and brother, Howard Flamm.
