Richard L. “Cooky” Cook, 79, of Windsor, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6 at 10:00am at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor with Rev. Richard Cohen and Rev. Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Windsor Harvest Picnic. The family requests casual dress.

Cooky was born June 4, 1938, in Edgewood, IL, the son of James and Lorene (Ealy) Cook. He married Virginia McWhorter on October 29, 1956 in Effingham. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2014. He spent over 50 years working at the Windsor Elevator, also known as Neal Cooper Grain, Bennett Grain or TGM. Cooky was affiliated with the Smyser Christian Church in rural Gays. He was a longtime Cardinals fan and truly cherished time spent with family.
He is survived by his children: Gary (Anna) Cook of Mattoon, Richard E. (Paulie) Cook of Salem, Rick (Dolly) Cook of Coles Station, Les (Brenda) Cook of Windsor and Bryon (Beth) Cook of Sullivan; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Lonnie (Sharon) Cook of Windsor; sisters, Kay (Jim) Yingst of Farina, Connie Landreth of Effingham and Becky Ray of Greenup.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Virginia; daughter, Brenda Cook and sister, Darlene Sapp.
