Anne Martens, 78 of Versailles, KY, formerly of Effingham, passed away Saturday evening, July 15, 2017, surrounded by her family.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), Friday, July 21 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Anne was born on October 5, 1938 in Effingham, the daughter of Joseph and Elsie (Overbeck) Nacke. She was a graduate of St. Anthony High School. As a young lady, she was the church organist at St. Anthony Church, before getting married and moving away. Annie spent much of her life in the work force; living in Decatur, Syracuse, NY, Louisville, KY and Atlanta, GA, before moving back to Effingham in 1998. She so enjoyed working at the K-Bowl and considered all bowlers her friends. She had recently moved to Versailles, KY to be near her children and grandchildren.

Anne is survived by her three children, Doug (Lisa) Martens of Bowling Green, KY, Sue (David) Owen of Versailles, KY and David Martens of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Kyle and Leah Martens and Nicholas and Sydney Owen; sister, Joyce (Ron) Kabbes of Effingham and sister-in-law, Jo Nacke of Laingsburg, MI. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Effingham area.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom Nacke. A special thank you must go out to hospice and her caregivers at Homeplace in Midway, KY.
