Earl M. Moeller, 95, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 6:08 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham with burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery (Blue Point), Altamont, with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham and from 9 a.m. to time of service, Tuesday at the church. Earl was born January 11, 1922 in Jasper County, the son of Martin P. and Augusta C. (Blievernicht) Moeller. He married Marilyn Hammer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Altamont May 30, 1948. Earl served with the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the Effingham V.F.W. Moeller was a member of the Central Illinois Garden Tractor Pulling Association, the National & State Holstein Association, as well as the Lutheran Layman’s League. Earl loved to carve and draw; even having his sculptures displayed in downtown Effingham three different years.
Earl is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Effingham; seven children, Nancy (husband Randy) Ashcraft of Pana, Stanley (wife Marlene) Moeller of Effingham, Steve (wife Nancy) Moeller of Effingham, Mark (wife Nancy) Moeller of Pana, Lisa (husband Bill) Brackney of Effingham, David (wife Angie) Moeller of Effingham and Stacia Rose of Altamont; 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Dennis; brothers, Fred, Ernest, Edward, Oscar, Rolan, Daniel and Arnold Moeller; sisters, Alma Moeller, Marie Moeller, Irene Schuette and Beulah Ruppert.
