Thomas E. “Tom” Yocum, 49, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday with a 6:30 p.m. Elks Memorial Service and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Thomas was born June 3, 1968, in Effingham, the son of Earl E. and Carolyn Jean  “Jeanie” (Holmes) Yocum. He married Amy Lohman October 23, 2015 in Effingham.                     

Tom was member of the Effingham Elks Lodge 1016 where he held an officer position. For most of his life he was a mechanic. Tom enjoyed fixing things and also playing cards. Above all things family was the most important to Tom and he loved spending time with them.

Tom is survived by his wife, Amy Yocum of Effingham; mother, Jeanie Yocum of Effingham; step-children, Brett (wife Shelby) Lohman of Willow Hill, Kristen Lohman and Derek Lohman both of Effingham; step-grandson, Easton Lohman; siblings, Jeffery (wife Leslie) Yocum and JoAnn (husband Patrick) Boggs both of Terre Haute, IN, and Sharon (husband Ervin) Higgs of Dieterich; nine nephews; and 10 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Earl E. Yocum.
