Linda Jean Kocher, age 69, of rural Sainte Marie, Illinois, passed away at 5:25 AM - Friday, June 16, 2017, at Helia Healthcare in Olney, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM – Monday, June 19, 2017, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois, with Fr Dean Probst celebrating mass. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM – Sunday, June 18, 2017, at the church and ½ hour before the mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Linda was born on August 9, 1947, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Urban J. and Dolores (Huber) Kocher. She attended Sainte Marie Grade School and Newton Community High School and graduated in 1965. After high school, she attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and graduated in 1968, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.

Linda was a former elementary teacher in the Teutopolis School district and a substitute teacher in Jasper County. She had a big interest in agribusiness, and helped with the family farm in her parents later years.

Linda was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois.

Linda is survived by: Sister – Janet (Jerome) Kistner of Newton, Illinois. Nephews – Michael (Jenny) Kistner and James (Kaila) Kistner all of Newton, Illinois. Great Nephews and Nieces – Caleb, Emalee, Bailey and Mitchell Kistner.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
