Karen Amber Barlow (27) of Effingham

Karen Amber Barlow, age 27, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. Memorials may go Pagel Funeral Homes to defer funeral expenses or donor’s choice.

Karen was born on July 4, 1989 in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Jeffrey A. and Debra L. (Stewart) Barlow. She graduated from Effingham High School in 2010. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist in Mattoon, Illinois. Karen was the godmother of her niece, Elizabeth Williams.  She loved to read, write short stories and had a fan fiction page on Facebook that consisted of many followers.

She is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Debra Barlow of Effingham, Illinois; brother, Charles Barlow (fiancé Tina Williams) of Effingham, Illinois and niece, Elizabeth Williams.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert Barlow and Ruth Rainey and maternal grandparents, Marvin and Vera Stewart.
