Cheryl Ann Boone, 65, of Mason, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Leith Cemetery in Mason, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday all at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Cheryl to the Children’s Miracle Network, American Cancer Society, or the Effingham County Relay for Life.

Cheryl was born on May 3, 1952, in Flora, IL, the daughter of Robert and Alice (Simmons) Jenkins. She married Haven E. Boone Sr. on January 16, 1971. Cheryl was a very generous person with a servant’s heart. She was crafty and enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Fishing with her husband was also a joy. Hummingbirds were special to her, whether it was feeding them or her hummingbird collectibles. She also enjoyed baking. Cheryl was known for her wonderful singing at numerous public events, and she was known for her leadership in organizing events for the community, especially for Children’s Miracle Network and Effingham County Relay for Life. As a former president of the Effingham VFW Ladies Auxiliary, she was proud of the military within her family and had been a leader in B CO 2/130 INF. Family Readiness Group for 18 years. What Cheryl loved the most was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Haven E. Boone Sr. of Mason; children, Dan (Jane) Boone of Edwardsville, Rechel Boone of Watson, James (Deloni) Boone of Clarksville, TN, and Haven E. (Jill) Boone Jr. of Effingham; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sister, Renée (John) Farley of Franklin, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gwendolyn Murphy; and nephew, Robert Murphy.
