Clara Evelyn Gordon, 91, of rural Beecher City, IL, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL. She was surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren as she departed this world for her heavenly home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10 in Washington United Methodist Church in rural Stewardson, IL with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery, near Beecher City, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN or HavenHouse, Creve Coeur, MO. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

Evelyn was born to Guy and Edna (Shepard) Jones of rural Mode, IL on October 2, 1925 and was one of seven children. Evelyn married Richard C. Gordon of rural Beecher City, IL on January 14, 1950 in Strasburg, IL. They made their home in rural Beecher City, IL, enjoyed 67 years of marriage and had four children.

Evelyn leaves behind her loving husband, Richard C. Gordon of Beecher City, IL; children, Darlene Watts of Orange Park, FL, Richard Dean Gordon and wife Debra (Florey) Gordon of Beecher City, IL, Debra Turbert and husband Francis Turbert of Pembroke Pines, FL and Doretta Gordon of Bloomington, IL; sister, Elnora Beaty of Searcy, AR; and sister-in-law, Christie Murphey and husband Ed Murphey of Strasburg, IL. Evelyn has eight grandchildren, Charles Watts of Plantation, FL, Shawn Gordon of Beecher City, IL, Christina Watts-Jones of Middleburg, FL, Douglas Gordon of Beecher City, IL, Connie Watts of Bloomington, IL, Crystal Gordon of Beecher City, IL, Melody Gordon of Beecher City, IL and Nicole Gordon of Beecher City, IL. She has nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Jones, Aubrey Lee Jones and Stanley Jones; sisters, Beatrice Willey and Retha Mae Jones.
