Donald Eugene Muhs, 74, of Newton passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.
Graveside services for Don will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at the New Saint Peters Cemetery, Newton with Pastor Tim Pearce officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded, interment will be in the New Saint Peters Cemetery. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family.

Don was born on September 10, 1942 in Olney, Illinois the son of Eugene and Mary (Meisner) Muhs. In October of 1962, Don married Edna Louise “Mickey” Schedlbauer. She survives. Don was an operator and supervisor for Halliburton until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, gardening, and cutting wood.
Don will be loved and remembered by his wife of fifty-four years Mickey Muhs of Newton; son Larry Muhs and wife Bernice of Newton; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and brothers Darold Muhs of Olney and Gary Muhs, wife Tamy of Poseyville, Indiana.
His parents and grandchild Jessica Muhs preceded him in death.
