Isabel was born on December 25, 1923, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Claude and Isabel (Casey) Hershey. She attended Millikin University and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1948. She married Gene Henderson on July 2, 1949 in Effingham, IL and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2000.

Isabel taught English, Spanish and typing at Effingham High School for twenty years. After the hospital fire in 1949, her typing class sent numerous solicitation letters to potential contributors for the new hospital. After retiring from teaching, she was a mentor and tutor for CEFS.

Being a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church, she held numerous positions in Presbyterian Women and was moderator for two terms at the Southeastern Presbytery. She was an Elder, Co-Treasurer with her husband and taught Sunday school for many years.

Isabel was a past president of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter NF in Effingham and a member of the Ann Crooker St. Clair Chapter of NSDAR. She was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Effingham Country Club. Her father, Claude Hershey, was one of the original board members that started the club in 1923.

Besides golf, she enjoyed playing bridge and reading. Her children and grandchildren were the major focus in her life - much of her time was devoted to their activities.

Survivors include her sons, Robert (wife, Joni) of Villanova, PA and Tom (wife, Lana) of Effingham; daughters, Lucy Stark (husband, Richard) of Charleston and Judy Beck (husband, Mike) of Effingham; son-in-law, Phil Nosbisch of Effingham; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Gene, Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Holly Nosbisch, grandson Nick Nosbisch and her brother Claude Hershey.
