Marla J. Moran, 61, of Effingham, IL, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Memorials are suggested in loving memory of Marla to the Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Marla was born on April 24, 1956, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Earl and Evelyn (Oakley) Baker Jr. She married Billy D. Moran on April 23, 1994 in Effingham, IL. Marla was a member of the First Baptist Church in Effingham. She operated an In-Home Day Care for twelve years with her mother and sister, Linda. She was a certified nursing assistant for twenty years. Marla and Bill had been in love since they were 12 years old and 13 years old, respectively.

Marla is survived by her husband, Bill Moran of Effingham; son, Brian (Maggie) Moran of Effingham; daughters, Torie (Patrick) Guenther of Woodbury and Tracy (Fred) Munnerlyn of Missoula, MT; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Baker of Effingham; and sister-in-law, Karen Baker of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 children; sister, Linda Baker; brother, Stephen Baker; and 2 grandsons, Skyler and Kannon.
