James A. "Jim" Warren, 77, of Mode died at 11:27am Monday, April 24, 2017 at his home.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Shumway, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 4:00 p.m. parish prayer service. Memorial donations may be made to Shelby County Jr. Rifle Club.

Jim was born December 9, 1939 in Chicago, the son of John W. and Helen (Anderson) Warren. He married Joann E. Meyer on June 18, 1960 in Effingham and she preceded him in death in 1998. Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Shumway and was employed for many years as a supervisor for Firestone Tire in Decatur. He was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association; being active in the Kaskaskia River Valley Friends of the N.R.A. and helped jump-start the Effingham County chapter. Jim was also involved in the Shelby County Jr. Rifle Club and the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665.

Jim is survived by his son, John (Tracey) Warren of Stewardson; daughter, Angela (Mark) Lambert of Decatur; sister, Jacquelyn Teel of Albuquerque, New Mexico and brother, Richard (Irene) Warren of Neoga; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joann.
