Edith LeCrone, 101, of Altamont, died at 12:25 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Willie Deuel officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery, rural Altamont. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

Edith R. LeCrone was born on Thursday, October 7, 1915 in Jackson Township, Effingham County, Illinois to Roy and Gertie (Parks) Grupe. She married Walter E. LeCrone on January 27, 1934 at the Jasper County Courthouse and he preceded her in death in 1961. She had attended the Salem Methodist Church and was a member of the Effingham American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a homemaker and Nurse’s Aide for 20 years at several area nursing homes including Marks Manor.

She is survived by: daughter, Juanita Cornwell of Altamont; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son, Don LeCrone, brother, Howard Grupe, and sister, Leona Ealy.
