Jerry Dean "Red Dog" Donaldson, age 48, of Hidalgo, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 AM - Sunday, March 26, 2017, west of Wheeler, Illinois.

Funeral  services will be held at 10:30 AM – Friday, March 31 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois, with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will in Dieterich Village Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 PM – Thursday at the funeral home with Masonic rites at 8:00 PM. In loving memory of Jerry, memorials may be made to the family c/o Meyer Funeral Home 307 West Jourdan St. Newton, Illinois 62448.

Jerry better known as “Red Dog”, shook the earth when he was born on November 9, 1968, in Effingham, Illinois, a day a major earthquake shook over 23 states. He was born the son of Joseph H. and Stella F. (Allen) Donaldson. He married Robin Dow on October 4, 1992, at Southern Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois. Jerry graduated from Dieterich High School in 1986, and was an employee of Probst Farms in Wheeler, Illinois.

Jerry was a member of the Winterrowd Masonic Lodge #664 in Dieterich, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4 wheeler riding and spending time with his family and friends. 

Jerry is survived by: Wife of 24 years – Robin Donaldson of Hidalgo, Illinois; Daughter – Felicia Donaldson of Hidalgo, Illinois; Mother – Stella Donaldson – Dieterich, Illinois Siblings – Regina (Greg) Keepes of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Jo Ann Donaldson, Cathy Ensminger (special friend Kenny Bohnhoff) of Dieterich, Illinois, John (Margo) Donaldson and Mary (Jason) Hayes all of Dieterich, Illinois  Father and Mother-in-law – Leroy “Gene” and Joyce Dow of Hidalgo, Illinois.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father.
