David A. Ordner, 68, of Sigel died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Montrose, with military rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. Memorials may be made in loving memory of David to HSHS Hospice of Southern Illinois, 503 N. Maple Street, Effingham, IL 62401.

David was born on October 10, 1948, in Effingham, IL, the son of Daniel and Rachel (Lanus) Ordner. He married Carolyn Bushue on November 23, 1972 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. David enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, deer hunting and deer camp, and the time coaching Little League. Having a cattle and bull business, David found joy in raising livestock. He also liked going to the sale barn. The trips he took with the Class of ’66 were always special to him. David served in the Illinois National Guard. He was employed at Sherwin Williams for 22 years and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus, and National Farmers Organization. Most importantly, David loved playing with his grandchildren and being with family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ordner of Sigel; children, Jennifer (Jim) Lohman of Effingham, Stacy (Art) Smallenberger of Charleston, Jeff (Jacque) Ordner of Sigel, Heather Ordner of St. Louis, MO, and Garrett (Holly) Ordner of Montrose; grandchildren, Madison and Dawson Lohman, Hunter Campbell, Chris and Alex Smallenberger, Lane, Brody, Tucker and Reid Ordner, Pierson Ordner, and Brynlee and Levi Ordner; siblings, Howard (Lyn) Ordner of Sigel, Rosemary (Bill) Myers of Effingham, and Donald Ordner of Montrose; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Ordner of Sigel. Also, surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine (Ed) Wilson, Leon Bushue, George (Ruth) Bushue, Gail (Marlene) Bushue, Teresa (Dave) West, Laura (Randy) Harrawood, and Julie (Ron) Shamhart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Charles; in-laws, Clifford and Dorothy Bushue, nephew, Ross Harrawood, and niece, Carla Ordner-Schaefer.
