James F. “Frank” Percival, 88, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17 at Watson United Methodist Church in Watson. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson, with military rites. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Frank to the Watson United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Frank was born on April 5, 1928, in Watson Township, IL, the son of John and Josie (Elliott) Percival. He married Rose Mary Smith on January 31, 1952 in Flora, IL.
Frank served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of Watson United Methodist Church, Watson Masonic Lodge, the Bricklayers Union, and a die-hard Cubs fan. Most importantly, Frank loved to help others and could be counted on. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. Much of his work can be found around Effingham. He also enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity. He had worked on every house except the last three. Frank was a partner of Hinkle & Percival Masonry and a bricklayer and masonry contractor for over 30 years. He was especially proud of his two granddaughters. Frank was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Frank is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Percival of Effingham; son, Jim Percival of Brownsburg, IN; granddaughters, Dr. Stefanie Percival of Nashville, TN and Jamie Wohlt of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Percival; and sister, Lawanda Becker.
