Calvin C. McGuire, age 77, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home in Edgewood, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 6 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont, Illinois. Doctor Jim Wright and Reverend Bernard Ross will be officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Altamont, Illinois. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont. Memorials may go to Immanuel Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.

Calvin was born on November 17, 1939 in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Arthur E. and Mildred R. (Heth) McGuire. Calvin was baptized and confirmed by Pastor Hans F. Bruss on March 27, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont, Illinois. Pastor Bruss also married Calvin and Eloise A. Bandelow on June 25, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Calvin was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he attended worship and served in many offices for several years. He was a Mason Township Trustee and a member of the FSA Committee for several years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, playing horse shoes and basketball, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Eloise McGuire of Edgewood, Illinois; two sons, Michael McGuire (wife Kathy) of Edgewood, Illinois and Jeff McGuire of Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Sally Mayhaus (husband Jeff) of Edgewood, Illinois and Sarah Jahraus (husband Joe) of Altamont, Illinois; brother, Howard “Pete” McGuire (wife Judy) of Edgewood, Illinois and 8 grandchildren, Ben McGuire, Laura McGuire, Allison McGuire (fiancé, Andy Meyer), Jacob Jahraus (wife Nicole), Derek Jahraus, Ryan Mayhaus, Adam Mayhaus and Leah Mayhaus and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred McGuire and one sister, Nola Lee Brown.
