Yvonne Britton, 80, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:45 PM – Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Yvonne’s life will be held at 1:00 PM – Sunday, February 26 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the Gila Lutheran Cemetery in rural Gila, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Saturday. In loving memory of Yvonne, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund P.O. Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448.

Yvonne was born on May 17, 1936, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Rawlings) Dow. She married Beryl “Bake” Britton on August 13, 1966, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1994. Yvonne worked as a cook at Newton Rest Haven in Newton for over 20 years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed listening to music and working puzzles.

Yvonne is survived by: Sons – Terry (Emily) Brothers of Newton, Illinois and Brett (Brenda) Britton of Charleston, Illinois; Step Daughter – Barbara (Larry) Matson of Newton, Illinois; Grandchildren – Kaycee Britton of Effingham, Illinois, Justin Brothers of Mahomet, Illinois and Bake (Heather) Brothers of Keyesport, Illinois; Great Grandchildren – Trey and Ayden Brothers; and Brother – Leroy “Gene” (Joyce) Dow of Hidalgo, Illinois.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Cody Britton, step daughters Elaine Jackson and Judy Colclasure, step son Robert Britton, brother Chuck Dow, sisters Wilma Dickerson, Katherine Sowers and Rose Auteberry.
