Reida Kay Hites, age 73, of Altamont, Illinois passed away at 5:59 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18 at Brown’s Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Gene Simmons will be officiating. Memorials may go to the donor’s choice.

Reida was born on September 21, 1943 in Larkinsburg Township, Illinois, the daughter of Louie and Neoma (Pauley) Simmons. She married Edgar “Sonny” Hites on March 09, 1963 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar “Sonny” Hites of Altamont, Illinois; son, Eric Hites (fiancé Tasha Bowen) of Farina, Illinois; daughter, Ingrid Morton (companion Ralph Gates) of Windsor, Illinois; brother, Jesse Simmons (wife Irma) of LaClede, Illinois; sister, Glenda Strackeljohn (husband Robert) of Iola, Illinois and 9 grandchildren, Ashley Morton, Craig Morton, Zachary Hites, Zane Hites, Rhemi Culver, Carter Watkins, Savannah Hites, Cheyenne Hites and Ethan Hites.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Neoma Simmons; son, Eddie Hites; three brothers, Richard Simmons, Louie Paul Simmons and Verle Wayne Simmons; 5 sisters, Alietha White, Mary Ellen Ingram, Gladys Zavalas, Lila Braundmeier, Carolyn Tate; brother-in-law, James Richard Ingram.
