Norma was born on April 11, 1927, in Lawrenceville, IL, the daughter of Cecil and Nellie (Jenner) Sloan. She married Loren H. Woodard on February 14, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2003. Norma was the co-owner and office manager of Crossroads Claim Service. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Her family was the highlight of her life. She loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. People that were not related to her knew her as “Grandma.” She was well loved by everyone that knew her. Norma was such a caring, loving, funny, stubborn, genuine and thoughtful person. She had been through many obstacles later in life and was a true fighter. She was the true meaning of what it means to be called a mother, grandmother, and Nana.

Norma is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” (wife, Cheryl) Woodard of Effingham; daughter, Susan J. Jackson of Effingham; grandchildren, Stacy (husband, Jeremy) Pokorny of Troy and Brett Woodard of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Haley and Kaitlyn Pokorny and Will Woodard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and James Meeker; brother, Paul Sloan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Helen Woodard; nephews, Wallace Meeker and Dr. Thomas Sloan; brother-in-law, Jack Woodard; and sisters-in-law, Doris Anne Eden and Norma Mae Wiseman.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Norma’s caregivers, Kathy and Dale Worman.
