Doloris M. Askins, 67, of Cowden, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Reverend Darrell Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in Gallagher Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

She was born November 13, 1949, in Yakima, WA, the daughter of Russell and Florine (Sharpnack) Jenkins. She married James L. Askins on February 16, 1973 in Aniston, AL. Doloris retired from Shelby Memorial Hospital where she worked as a CNA for over 25 years, she also worked as a CNA at various nursing homes through the years. She was a veteran of the United States Army. She enjoyed crocheting, adored animals and cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

Doloris is survived by her husband James of Cowden; sons Chris Askins of Cowden and Bryan Askins of Shelbyville; six grandchildren Lane, Kate, Landon, Serenity, Gracie and Benjamin; sisters Ellen (Scott) Haskin, Darlene (Lynn) Uhlenkott and Debbie (David) Berg all of WA.

Doloris was preceded in death by her parents and sister Lavonne Jenkins.
